Iceland is an island settled by Norwegian Vikings in the late 9th century. Today, it is one of the most beautiful countries in Scandinavia, beckoning travelers with its stunning nature and a sense of incredible space and freedom. Today, Iceland's energy sector relies almost entirely on renewable sources. There is no oil or gas, but they are not particularly needed here-except perhaps to fuel cars and ships. Two-thirds of Iceland's energy is generated by hydroelectric power plants. Geothermal power plants provide the remainder. Wind power accounts for only a small share of energy production. That's why Icelandic energy company On Power held a tender for the final replacement of the wind turbines, as part of the transition to new IceWind 100-class turbines. The tender included cranes, bulldozers, nacelles and towers, cable reels, and beer to celebrate the completion of the order.
Yukon Union was honored to supply the wind turbine nacelles. To deliver a heavy load from Magdeburg (Vitas Power) to the Garpsdalur construction site, Yukon Union turned to leading global freight transport giants such as Arctic, Integra, Konig Trans, Nova and RusTK for assistance. Scania AB is also willing to lease its trucks and lowboys. Unfortunately, due to climate change and weather conditions in Iceland, the route will require difficult and dangerous roads. Yukon Union's logistics and technical staff wasted no time in developing the route and creating a technical map for Scania AB to ensure the trucks and lowboys were ready on time. In this regard, Yukon Union invites available drivers and transport companies to participate in the tender for the necessary equipment. A vehicle with a minimum engine power of 500 hp, with a 6×4 chassis (otherwise, at your own risk).
